The short answer

We make kitchens, wardrobes, panelling and hotel furniture in Foshan for New Zealand homes and hotels. Import GST is 15% on the goods value plus international freight, insurance and any duty. Duty depends on the tariff item and origin; your broker checks NZ–China FTA eligibility. Solid-timber packaging must meet MPI requirements. Asbestos-containing products have been prohibited imports since 1 October 2016, subject to limited legal exceptions.

A few useful answers

Before we begin.

Do I pay GST on furniture imported to New Zealand?

Yes, import GST is 15% on the goods value plus freight, insurance and any duty when collected at the border. Different collection rules apply to low-value purchases; your seller or marketplace may collect GST, and freight levies can still apply.

Is there duty on furniture from China?

It depends on the tariff item and origin; preferential rates may apply under the NZ–China FTA. Your broker confirms classification, origin evidence and the rate before shipment.

Do you supply motels in New Zealand?

Yes. Start with a sample room or agreed key pieces before any repeat package; there is no minimum order. We review scope, specifications, packing and shipping economics for your project.

Do cabinets arrive assembled?

They can. Assembled cabinets take more container space; confirm the packing method, freight allowance and local installation responsibilities in the quotation.
